[Report] Visit to GS Yuasa Corporation
On July 30th, our company president and employee, along with three interns from the University of Texas, visited the GS Yuasa Corporation’s Kyoto Headquarters and factory.
In 1917, Genzo Shimazu, the founder of Japan Storage Battery, the predecessor to GS Yuasa, is known for importing the “Detroit” electric vehicle equipped with the company’s own storage batteries from the United States and using it as a company car.
This vehicle, lacking an internal combustion engine, served for about 30 years as the original environmentally friendly “eco-car,” and became a symbol of technology.
We came face to face with the carefully restored Detroit at the company’s headquarters in Kyoto.
Seeing its history and technology come together gave us a real sense of the company’s passion and pride, and made us realize that the electric car from 100 years ago is still relevant today.
We also had the opportunity to visit the company’s exhibition area to learn about the its history and technological evolution, as well as tours of its module production line and battery AC inverter manufacturing site.
It was a valuable opportunity to see cutting-edge manufacturing up close, and all participants had a very meaningful time.
We would like to thank everyone at GS Yuasa Corporation for their valuable guidance.
